Beadlock Rims
Armed with my knowledge of what everyone either liked or disliked about bead locks and all of the rumours good and not so good that I had heard when running bead locks, I was keen to put together a rim set that not only complies with the legalities of the low volume certification rules but also a set that off-roader’s could install with easy themselves. Below are a few pointers to look out for and may help with some FAQ.
The outer edge of the inside main ring is rounded instead of straight-cut like other brands. When a tire is running at very low pressures, the sidewall will overlap the bead lock ring. If the ring's inner edge is straight, then the edge can cut into the sidewall and damage it. This can eventually lead to a sidewall air leak and defeat the purpose of the bead lock. The legal specification requires a radius of 3mm to this edge. The bolts on a bead lock rim are in equal increments of 10 degrees.
